SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting functions. The position includes a combination of transactional, journal entry, reconciliation and analytical work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions as defined are ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents within this classification.  Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations varying in difficulty from simple to complex
  • Prepare various month-end schedules for internal and external management
  • Reconcile and prepare necessary schedules for corporate billings
  • Perform periodic GET/TAX tax return preparation for multiple entities and property owners participating in rental program
  • Reconcile company credits card transactions and ensure all backup is received, post entries to accounting system
  • Support monthly inventory count & usage posting through schedule preparation, analysis & journal entry posting
  • Perform accounts payable functions ranging from initial invoice entry through check printing, recommending payment batches, reconciling with vendor statements and A/P account balance analysis
  • Perform accounts receivable functions ranging from billing of association dues & intercompany bill backs to account analysis & collections
  • Perform daily general cashier duties such as reconciling cash transactions, preparing & making deposits and fulfilling departmental change requests
  • Obtain certificate of insurance as needed for agreements
  • Maintain files of permanent documents including contracts, Form W-9s, insurance documents
  • Support external financial statement audits
  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives and ad-hoc projects
  • Participate in the development & ongoing improvement of internal processes
  • Support annual budget process through data collection & analysis
  • Support other accounting staff members as applicable to scope of work
  • Other similar duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and/or skill required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting or related field

Required Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Office Excel and familiarity in other Microsoft Office products
  • Operating office tools and equipment such as copiers, printers, scanners
  • Proficient with a 10-key calculator
  • Accounting software programs such as Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Property management systems such as Springer-Miller Systems
  • Applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Policies and procedures of the department
