JOB TITLE:                  Maintenance Technician II                              FLSA:               Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT:            Facilities                                                          Pay Range:             $18.00-$22.00 DOE

REPORTS TO:              Facilities Manager                                       


The best candidate will be experienced with a variety of maintenance trades, be experienced in working with a diverse group of employees and customers, and have the ability to change directions at any given time without much notice. 

Looking for Full time team member to work up to 40 hours per week year-round. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Coordinate and prioritize work requests with Facilities Manager and the Director of Resort Operations
  • Able to use basic troubleshooting skills to diagnose plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and appliance related problems
  • Performs carpentry work from plans, oral instructions, sketches and blueprints
  • Knowledge of tools, materials and practices associated with building and grounds maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
  • Experience with maintaining pools and spas, preferred
  • Familiar with computers and computer related software
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with co-workers, management, owners, and guests
  • Valid driver's license, with clean record preferred
  • Perform basic maintenance duties for all One Steamboat Place units including:
  • Plumbing: un-clog sinks, toilets, showers, and tubs; repair/replace toilets, faucets
  • Electrical: repair/replace broken switches/plugs/fuses
  • Carpentry: repair/replace damaged wood trim; make doors/windows operable (including sash cords); repair/replace door/window hardware
  • Glazing: replace broken door/window glass
  • Painting: exterior and interior
  • Drywall repair
  • Appliances: Basic Troubleshooting and repair
  • Mechanical: Basic Troubleshooting and repair

Supportive functions:

  • Any other additional tasks assigned

Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

At least one year of maintenance experience, preferred in a hospitality and/or resort industry 

Knowledge and Skills

Preferred Knowledge of:

  • Using a variety of tools, materials and practices associated with building and grounds maintenance such as hand tools, drills, chop saw, levels, weed eaters, lawn mower, scissor lift, electrical meter, wrenches, and hammers 
  • Have previous customer service experience
  • Prior hospitality, resort, hotel facilities maintenance experience preferred
  • Fire panels, Fire and Life Safety devices, fire pumps and jockey pumps
  • Maintenance on pumps (grease bearings, strainer baskets & suction diffusers)
  • Building automation computer systems like Johnson Controls CPU, Transcendent, and other
  • Basic repairs related to actuators, diffusers, balancing valves, FCU motors and exhaust fans
  • Hydronic, snowmelt and mechanical systems
  • Troubleshooting skills to diagnose plumbing, electrical, mechanical and appliance related problems
  • Experience with maintaining pools and spas
  • Experience in all phases of mechanical/electrical systems 

Skilled in:

  • Being familiar with computers and computer related software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, word, iPad, iMacs, iPhone, or Android apps
  • In all situations demonstrate Character, Courtesy, Calm and Charm
  • Understand variety of information pertaining to the resort and the area we serve
  • Planning and prioritizing of tasks in a self-directed work environment and maintain high levels of productivity without direct supervision 

Able to:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, plans, sketches, and blueprints
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with co-workers, management, owners, and guests
  • If not already certified, obtain the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification within one year of employment, paid for by One Steamboat Place while employed
  • Work independently or in a team environment and take direction
  • Work until all daily duties are complete, even if this means working more than 8 hours in one shift.

  • May be subject to solvents, cleaning solutions, grease, hazardous materials, and varnishes
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places (ladders)
  • Occasionally works in proximity to electrical current, high heat or exposure to chemicals
