SUMMARY: The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for the performance and integrity of the overall Timbers Company brands. The CMO will lead the Timbers and property brand strategy, positioning and identity and develop messaging/creative for all major consumer touchpoints including advertising, print, digital, social, email, direct mail, and cross-marketing and work directly with various departments within the organization to ensure brand accuracy including real estate marketing, hospitality marketing, vacation rental, hospitality, operations, Timbers Reciprocity Program (TRP), employment and corporate initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions as defined are ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents within this classification.  Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Set forth and execute overall Timbers Company and Timbers property marketing strategy, brand, development and team growth as directed by CEO, CFO, CSO, and Sr. Managing Director of Hospitality
  • Creates and leads cross-functional integrated Brand Marketing programs to ensure brand/messaging integrity and consistency across all departments including but not limited to real estate marketing, hospitality marketing, vacation rental, operations, TRP and corporate initiatives.
  • Establishes and delivers against KPIs for brand health - awareness, consideration, advocacy, and other desired key brand attributes across all markets.
  • Continues to identify how Timbers fits within our industries and ensure we are innovating and identifying new ideas to implement and execute within the Company.
  • Accountable for performance of key external Marketing agency partners.
  • Creates new property acquisition business development, marketing collateral, Company marketing strategy, market reports and research, proposals and creative development as needed.
  • Develops new property positioning, brand creative and art direction, and overall strategy, budgets, and marketing plans with CEO, and Company Executives.
  • Provides training and guidance for all new hires on brand positioning. Work with human resources departments at corporate and all resorts to make sure all training materials and processes represent current brand positioning. Travel as needed to town halls or pre-season orientations to do brand training.
  • Manages and creates all corporate ads, collateral, mailings, digital and social.
  • Creates and distributes brand guidelines and positioning statements for all properties.    
  • Advises on all brand related issues, new properties, and logos. Enforce brand standards remain up to date and serve as police on behalf of brand.      
  • Collaborates with Chief Sales Officer and Sr. Managing Director of Hospitality to develop overall marketing plans.  And drives the overall creative direction for all channels of marketing related to digital, email, social, print, direct mail, PR, cross-marketing, and production assets for each property within the collection.
  • Reviews and understands ownership needs and expectations on a periodic basis.
  • Provides leadership oversight on special projects, transitions, and new property openings.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
  • Creates and manages corporate and property public relations positioning, awards, and messaging.
  • Manages overall TRM Marketing Calendar across all business lines.
  • Oversees all process flow docs for all campaigns, approval processes and vendors.
  • Development of Timbers Prospect Nurturing and New Lead Programs.
  • Manages all marketing to investors and partners from a corporate level.
  • Consults on marketing ideas for all properties that are part of the Timbers asset management division.
  • Manages all corporate and property trademarks.
  • Manages all license agreements for marks and asset distribution. Police compliance on all usage of marks and assets for all partnership, brokers etc.
  • Manages overall TRM corporate event strategy and execution – budgets, venues, event plans, gifting, partnerships, donations, sponsorships, list work, offers.
  • Develops and manages Timbers corporate donation and sponsorship strategy
  • Collaborates with CEO and Senior Managing Director of Hospitality to structure an effective strategy, marketing plan and budget for corporate partnerships for the year.
  • Identifies, negotiates, coordinates, and executes multifaceted brand partnerships to enhance Owner benefits and expand Timbers’ lead generation and prospect database.
  • Directs and collaborates with Director of Reciprocity and Special Projects on front line ongoing education and promotion, owner participation, owner experience and customer service of partnerships/benefits.
  • Executes all partnerships implementations including merchandising, promotion, and campaigns. Integrate with operations and sales.
  • Creates and maintains partner relationships including, negotiating benefits, and collaborating on communication and promotional campaigns with each partner service.
  • Oversees campaigns for partner promotion, including inception, delivery, post evaluation and follow-up.
  • Manages and guide the partnerships and lead acquisition events that they are evaluating and working on for Timbers Resorts.
  • Manages Timbers Resorts/Timbers Collection eNewsletter. Provide content for communication 4x/ year for Prospects and Owners.
  • Management of the TRP/Timbers Collection content on each property website.
  • Assistances with annual TRS survey delivery, collection, and compiling and internal distribution.
  • Partnership Administration – pulling together packages and managing SS of all offers, design assets, calendars, and promotions.

  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and/or skill required.

 Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/or Marketing required. Must have 10+ years’ relevant marketing and brand marketing work experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record as defined by insurance carrier.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of:

  • Must have knowledge and experience of user experience interface best practices. Experienced using computer and software programs: Adobe Creative Suite (In-Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Microsoft Office, HTML, CMS, WordPress, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with managing best practices for CRM like Salesforce or comparable.
  • Principles and practices of employee supervision, including selection, work planning, organization, performance review and evaluation, and employee training and discipline.
  • Policies and procedures of Timbers Company.
  • Principles, practices, and techniques of the marketing and real estate industry.
  • Policies and procedures of the department.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.
  • Principles and methods of developing effective informational and presentation materials.
  • Principles and practices of budget development, administration, and measurement of results
